How to Run a Simple Facebook Contest

Wondering how to easily engage your Facebook audience? Run a simple Facebook contest. It used to be a bit more difficult to run a contest on Facebook. You had to use a third-party app and there were certain rules you had to follow. Facebook still has contest rules so make sure you read through them before starting your Facebook contest. Here are some simple contest ideas that won’t go against Facebook’s rules.

Before you start, decide what you want to give away. Is it a free oil change? A gift certificate? Free set of wiper blades? Get creative. You might even try coordinating your contest with a local business owner. For example, a gift card to the local Italian restaurant might be nice and then they can also promote it to their Facebook audience. You get more people viewing your page!

Here are some sample contests:

  1. LIKE the post to be entered in the Facebook contest. Very simply, your audience members only need to LIKE the specific post to enter this contest. It’s always good to share a photo with your contest so people will more readily see the post in their feed.
  2. COMMENT on the post to be entered in the contest. This is basically the same as #1, but instead of LIKING the post, you’re asking a person to comment. The actual post comment could be something like, “What do you like best about bringing your vehicle to XYZ Automotive? Comment to be entered into a drawing to win a free ________.”
  3. LIKE and COMMENT on the post to be entered in the contest. This is where the person must do both to be entered into the contest. It gets a little trickier, but it’s still easily doable.
  4. CAPTION this to be entered into the contest. Share a funny photo from your shop and ask your audience to caption it. The best caption wins!
  5. A TRIVIA Facebook contest is another way you can engage the audience. Ask an automotive trivia contest and select the winner from everyone who answers correctly. You don’t have to worry about making it a difficult question or whether or not they look up the answer before they respond. It’s all about engaging your audience.
